Environmental and Social Impact of Projects

Compliance with environmental obligations in Brazil is not a simple task as the applicable laws are enacted at a federal, state and municipal level and are continuously renewed, sometimes to a highly-detailed degree. Our role is to make such rules as easy as possible for our clients to understand and find together with them the most appropriate and cost-effective way to comply with them.

We assist our clients in dealing with the environmental, social and cultural impacts of projects, which may have repercussions on the interests of landowners, squatters, “quilombolas” and indigenous communities. We also advise our clients when project implementation affects landed assets or areas of environmental protection, thus requiring specific licenses or authorisations. In such cases, we work before governmental or civil society bodies that protect such interests by seeking the solution that best reconciles the values involved.
